The role of sugar in the obesity problem is unknown. Back in time, sugar, the one obtained from fruits, was available only a few months each year, when the fruits were harvested. Honey, which was another natural source of sugar, was not easy to obtain, so people were lucky when they were able to consume it.

It is as if they consume 40 teaspoons of sugar per day. The researchers have stated that nature made sugar very hard to get, but people made it very easy to obtain.

Some researchers have stated that when sugar is consumed in excess, it becomes toxic. The problem is that the glucose which comes from complex carbohydrates is metabolized by the body in a safe manner.

The fructose on the other hand, is metabolized by the liver, and in time, the liver takes lots of damage. This constant damage could lead to diabetes and other problems such as obesity.

The added sugar is even more dangerous, because it deals a bigger damage to the liver. The reason for that is the fact that it goes strictly to the liver. Some have stated that sugar is just as addictive as alcohol and tobacco are.

They also stated that it is toxic, and that it has a negative effect on the society.
