Food Allergies and How They Work

Have you ever experienced nose catarrh, vomiting, diarrhea and asthmatic symptoms or even changes at the skin level? If the answer to this question is yes, you probably know what a food allergy is. Aside of the fact that they are extremely nasty and show up from basically nowhere, they are also extremely dangerous, especially if they are left untreated.

In the past couple of years people have become more alert about food allergies because there are more and more women and children who go through these types of things and researchers have tried to find why food allergies appear.

And, as if it were not enough that being allergic to foods was bad, it seems that there are more allergens in the world right now that there have ever been. Think about it this way: if you were walking down the street and you started sneezing all of a sudden, while your eyes were swelling up with tears, you were probably having an allergic reaction to something in the air. Well, the thing is that food allergies are a lot worse than this, as they can go as far as swelling of the tongue, which is pretty dangerous, to anaphylactic shock, which can be lethal.

What Are the Most Common Food Allergies?

You have probably have a friend or two, or even a dozen, who are allergic to peanuts. Well, the worst part is that peanuts contain a lot of nutrients which are good for the body, but in these people, there is something which does not allow them to eat peanuts, or else they… bloat.

Therefore, they try avoiding them as much as possible. Not only are they not allowed to eat peanuts are they are, but they cannot eat anything made out of peanuts, which is really bad.

Another very common allergy is the one to milk. Although mostly kids get this type of allergy, there are also a lot of women who cannot touch this dairy product.

Still, most women do not seem to mind this very much. When people are allergic to milk, they usually start vomiting, they have diarrhea or they can even go through some dermal changes.

Fish is also a type of food which contains a lot of nutrients, but which can also lead to serious problems, such as migraines, nausea, face swell and other such things, especially in people who are allergic.

Whether it is cooked or raw, people who have allergy to fish cannot eat it and that is a real shame.

Can Allergies Be Treated?

Well, as a matter of fact, allergic reactions can be treated, but allergies cannot. Unfortunately, there are not too many people who were never able to eat peanuts and then, they did without their face swelling up.

Even so, these things can be kept under control and people can really keep an eye on what they are eating.

Whenever someone has an allergy, make sure you take them to the hospital, especially if they have eaten something they were allergy to in large quantities, because it can get really serious and the anaphylactic shock can only lead to death.
