Many also believe that cardio is enough in order to stay toned, but it isn’t. Weight training is a must, especially since we start to lose muscle at the age of 30.

Do not use weights while you are on the treadmill either. It might seem as an excellent idea to combine cardio exercises with strength training, but it isn’t.

There are many common mistakes people do when they do weight training exercises as well. One of the biggest is that they rush their repetitions, which could lead to injuries. It might seem “cooler” to do a higher number of repetitions, but it actually isn’t. Do exercises in a slower manner, even if means doing fewer repetitions.

When you are working out your abdomen, try to contract those muscles. If you do not contract the abdominal muscles, the movement you are doing is useless. In case you are using a machine in order to train your muscles, make sure that the machine is set in the proper manner.

Adjust the seat, the weight, and if you do not know how, ask a trainer to do it for you.

Do not Forget about Stretching and Cooling Down

Stretching and cooling down are very important parts of the workout. You should never skip them, because if you do, you will be in the risk of developing injuries. Also, when you are stretching, try not to bounce, because jumping increases the chances of sustaining an injury. Stay on your feet when you stretch.

Try to add the fun element into the workout routines. If you do the same exercises over and over again, you will get bored by them, and that is a fact. It is important to change the exercises you perform on a regular basis, because the muscles will have to work extra hard if you do.

It is also important to keep up with the exercises. If you still do exercises which the gym teacher taught you in middle school, it is time for a change.

You should never expect to see instant results because they will not come. Instead, try to focus on the long time results, as those will not disappoint you if you do your job in the proper manner.
