How to Have the Life You Desire

There are many people who wonder about their life; about the situation they are in, about the things they could be doing with their life, and so on. They might be unfulfilled for various reasons. They could have a great career, a successful relationship, but even so, they might feel that something is missing.

It seems that these thoughts and ideas get more common as people get older. They lose energy, they feel lethargic, and they start to feel that they do not control their own lives. According to Richard J. Leider, the thing which these people are missing is purpose. He stated that there are certain ways in which people can start controlling their lives once again. He also stated that each person would like to find meaning of his/her life, and the only way to do it is with the aid of purpose.

One of the things which we should do in order to have the life we desire is to eliminate the “rusting out” process. That is when we are captured by the events from our lives, and we have no idea how to break free. For example, in case we do a task in hours, dragging the action, then we are rusting out. When we feel that we are just “going through the motion”, then we are rusting out.

Another thing which we could make is to pause for a second. There might be cases when we find ourselves in a situation which does not allow us to find our purpose. According to Dr. Leider, we should pause our life for a second, and take a moment to think. He stated that technology is one of the reasons why we are not in contact with our life. The way in which we should put a pause on our life is to take a 12 hour media break. This means that we shouldn’t use the TV, cell phone, computer, and so on.

By doing so, we will be able to think about our life, about the things which make us happy, and so on.

Find your passion

It is very important to know which our passion is. We need to know what’s mission from our life, because that is the only way in which we can find our passion. Dr. Leider stated that we should think about the things which gets us up in the morning and keeps us up at night. He stated that we should thing about interests, and not about anxieties and worries. We should make a list of the things which we enjoy doing, and of the ones we are good at. For example, some might be good at painting, others at writing, and others at communicating. In case we do not know the things we are good at, our friends or family members might help.

It is very important to visualize the life we would like to have. Inspirational pictures, or motivational quotes can help us do that. We could download pictures, or cut pictures from magazines, and look at them on a daily basis. These are some of the ways in which we can take control of our life.
